Table mountain

Table Mountain is typically covered with clouds. On a rare occasion of blue skies and no clouds going up is an absolute must do. Due to heavy wind the cable car was not going up. So we decided to go up on foot. Some of the tracks were also closed due to wind. We commenced our hiking at the Botanic garden. The Smuts track is a spectacular hike, though not for fainthearted as the tracks are not that good developed and marked. It’s quite steep and in some places we had to climb over rocks. So hiking shoes are highly recommendable. We would not recommend doing it alone either. The scenery changed a lot. Plants and birds variety is also large.
We returned via Nursery Ridge, which was very tiresome as it was mostly downhill and quite steep. We lost the track as it was not that clearly marked. We were lucky to meet a guy with GPS to find our way back on the track. On the whole it took us 4 hours.
